CSA Surf Fishing Derby 2026

WELCOME

July 19 - 26

Derby starts:

July 19th,12:00am. 7 days to fish and catch a prize winner!

Trophy Day:

July 26th at Fisherman's Access, Brea. 3pm - 5pm. There will be food, drinks, raffles and giveaways along with awarding the winners their trophy and winnings.

Entry fee:

Division #1, $45 per registration. (First 30 will receive a bonus item in their kit).
Division #2, $50 per registration.

Kit includes: 1x CSASD Ruler, 1x CSASD ID Card, A variety of soft plastic bait, Metal jigs, pack of terminal tackle, pack of stickers, and 10 raffle tickets to be automatically entered in the raffle. Tickets for Div#1 will be given in person during the trophy day on the 26th. You must be present to claim your tickets.*First 30 registrants will include 1-2 Lucky Craft lures + 5 extra raffle tickets.

3 Categories in each division.

$45 Division #1: "SoCal local". Anyone who is local to LA/OC/SD/VC/SB area OR can attend the trophy day on the 26th, 3-5pm at Fisherman's Access, Brea CA.

Category #1: Surf Perch. Longest combined length of your 3 biggest entry wins.
Category #2: Halibut. Longest combined length of your 2 biggest entry wins.
Category #3: Striped Bass OR WSB. Biggest in length wins. 1 fish entry for each.

$50 Division #2: "Online only". Anyone that is not able to make it to the trophy day on the 26th OR if you live in NorCal area and it's too far to drive down.*Raffle will be LIVE on FB and IG on the 26th and we will draw the winning tickets. You must be tuned in on the LIVE drawing to claim your prize.

Category #1: Surf Perch. Longest combined length of your 3 biggest entry wins.
Category #2: Halibut. Longest combined length of your 2 biggest entry wins.
Category #3: Striped Bass OR WSB. Biggest in length wins. 1 fish entry for each.

O.B.E. Online Bait Express
Swimbaits: Paddle tails, flukes, HBB8, Gulp, etc.
Exceptions: Sand Crabs

*Surf / Shore fishing ONLY. Including rocky beaches or shore line, Jetties/Rocks and Inlets.

Absolutely NO Piers, Kayaks, Float tubes, Bridges, Boats or Harbors.

CSA members only till 6/5

RULES

Fish must be caught during the 7-day period of the derby.

The code word must be written clearly on your ID card using a RED marker. This will be released on the first day of the derby via CSA Facebook page, IG, and will be emailed to you.

Photos MUST include your ID card along with the fish measurements using the CSA Surf Derby ruler.

Both the ruler measurements and your ID card MUST be clearly visible in the photo.

Only your top 3 biggest Perch, Top 2 biggest Hali, and your biggest Striper 0r WSB will be recorded to qualify.

You will receive an email from csasurfderby@gmail.com with the subject "Submission thread" along with your ID# and the CODE WORD. You MUST submit your entries by replying to that email ONLY. DO NOT send a separate email to submit your entries. Continue replying to the original email with the subject "Submission thread".

All submissions MUST be measured in this format: bottom lip on zero, belly on the bottom, dorsal fins on top, and tail not pinched. (*Halibut must be facing up with its belly on the ruler.) *See examples below.
